Albanian Restaurant in Sarandë
Krahu i Shqiponjës cooks the food of southern Albania — the dishes our family has made since 1995 — alongside the seafood the Ionian provides.
Dishes from the Albanian south
Expect village salad with sheep's feta and Ionian olive oil, grilled peppers, byrek pastry, slow-baked tavë, lamb and veal from the charcoal grill, and yoghurt-based sides that cut the smoke. Bread arrives warm and the olive oil is local.
Sweets follow the same line: baklava layered with walnuts and syrup, and a small Turkish coffee served the way it is drunk in Sarandë homes.
A family kitchen, not a tourist menu
The restaurant was opened by our family and is still run by it. Recipes come from the household rather than from a supplier's catalogue, which is why portions are generous and the menu stays short enough to cook properly.
Guests who want to taste the country in one sitting usually order a table of shared starters, one grilled fish and one meat plate — then let the kitchen recommend the rest.
