Krahu i Shqiponjës.
To our seaside restaurant in Saranda, a place built with dedication, honest work, and a true passion for hospitality. Since 1995, it has been more than just a restaurant, it has been an important part of our family's story and a meeting point for friends and travelers.
It continues today as a family-run business, guided by attention to detail and respect for tradition. Our cuisine is inspired by fresh, local ingredients and authentic flavors, closely connected to the sea and the surrounding area.
For us, it's not only about the food, but also the experience, the warmth, the calm atmosphere, and the desire to return. With the same dedication, we continue to honor the dream and the name of our founder.
About Krahu i Shqiponjës
A little more about the family, the name, and the food behind the restaurant on the Sarandë promenade.
When did Krahu i Shqiponjës open?
The restaurant opened in 1995 on the Sarandë waterfront and has been family-run ever since — one of the longest-standing seaside restaurants on the Albanian Riviera.
Is it still family-owned?
Yes. Krahu i Shqiponjës remains a family-run business, guided by the values and vision of founder Artan Mejdiu and carried on by his family today.
What kind of cuisine do you serve?
Coastal Mediterranean cooking rooted in Albanian tradition: wild-caught Ionian seafood, wood-fired meats, hand-cut pastas, seasonal vegetables and Southern Albanian wines.
Where does your seafood come from?
From the Ionian Sea in front of the restaurant. We work with local Sarandë fishermen for the daily catch, and change the menu with the boats and the season.
What does 'Krahu i Shqiponjës' mean?
It's Albanian for 'the wing of the eagle' — a nod to the national symbol and to the founder's vision of a restaurant that would stand for hospitality on this stretch of coast.
