Where to Eat Near Butrint

Butrint has a café at the gate and little else. The sensible plan is to visit in the morning and eat properly back in Sarandë, twenty minutes up the coast.

Timing your day

Butrint opens early and the site takes two to three hours. Leaving by 13:00 puts you on our terrace by 13:30 — before the afternoon heat and well within our all-day service.

The road back passes the Vivari channel and the lagoon that supplies much of the mussel catch you will find on the menu.

What to eat after the ruins

Something cold to drink first, then village salad, mussels from the lagoon you just drove past, and either seafood pasta or a whole grilled fish. It is the local version of the meal you have earned.

Our Butrint guide has practical details on tickets, timing and getting there.
