Dining on the Albanian Riviera
From Sarandë to Dhërmi, the Riviera's best meals share one rule: eat what came out of the water that morning, and let the kitchen keep it simple.
How the coast eats
Sarandë is the biggest town and has the deepest supply of fresh fish and the longest opening hours. Ksamil is beach-first. Himarë and Dhërmi are smaller, seasonal, and often close outside summer. Wherever you stop, whole fish priced by the kilo and grilled over charcoal is the local standard.
Albanian wine, olive oil and sheep's cheese travel the whole coast; the difference between kitchens is freshness and restraint.
Why base yourself in Sarandë
Sarandë puts Butrint, Ksamil and the Blue Eye within half an hour and keeps restaurants open year-round. We are on the promenade, serving 10:00 to 23:30 every day, including out of season when much of the coast shuts.
Our Sarandë guide covers where to stay, what to see and how to move around the Riviera.
