Kallmet: The Native Albanian Red You Haven't Tried

Kallmet is Albania's answer to Nebbiolo - a mountain red from the Lezhë region, grown on limestone slopes since at least the 1400s.
It's dry, medium-bodied, and tastes like sun-baked cherry, dried herbs, and a whisper of black tea. Good bottles age beautifully for ten years.
We pour it with our wood-fired lamb and with older cheeses. Try the Kallmet Riserva by the glass this summer - it's on the menu through October.
